2014, 6 speed Auto (Yes I know the manual is better) in anonymous rental car Silver, Magnetic Ride was standard only after 2015 so this won’t have it likely
All Black interior like this
I have read and watched numerous reviews over the years. This has been on my list for a long time for my next car . I am not expecting a luxury car overall but a premium mainstream Chevy. The good thing’s that these come pretty much fully loaded. Also, !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , I have a good baseline and am curious to know how much more softer and muted aka Grown up this feels to drive.
Oppo review by Monday latest.

If I don’t care about getting permanently blacklisted by the dealership and having the cops called on me, I will give it my best shot.

You need a salesmen like I was. I encouraged customers to “give it the beans” anytime enters drove a Performance car. The funniest was I had a guy looking at Chargers but couldn’t afford it, so I showed him a 200S Special with the Pentastar, and he didn’t believe it could do a good burn out, or that it’s actuallu faster than the Charger with the same engine. He ended up buying the 200S

I did that couple of days back in my wife’s FWD Kia after a brief rain spell coming off a stop sign . The traction control is hilariously aggressive and cuts power and drops brakes so hard like it’s saying “NO! bad driver”

“Kia...

Can you drive it to Illinois and let me drive around for a bit? One of these is definitely on my next vehicle shortlist.

I’ll ask the sales guy if I can take it for an “Extended test drive”
No used examples to test drive near you?

Carmax gets them off and on - I test drove one a while back at Carmax in Hillside. Lots of fun, wish I had more time in it and was able to drive it without the sales guy with me...

If you get one, will you replace the front and the rear end with one from an actual Malibu?
![]() 06/23/2018 at 14:10 |
|
I don’t have to take that much effort. 99% of people will think it’s a Malibu anyway

Have you written a review on Oppo and care to link it if yes?

I am sure there are, I am at least a few months away from making any kind of purchase. I just browse cars.com and daydream about what I want.

I am at least 3 more years away from getting a new car but this year I decided to ramp up the Unnecessary Car Shopping thing beyond Youtube reviews and Autotrader and actually go test drive a bunch of them this Summer. I don’t do more than one or two test drives a year because overly pushy dealers have turned me off in the past but I was pleasantly surprised how laid back so many of them have been so far.
The reviews I post here also serve as a personal record for me to go back and think about them before I make my decision. Of course, I will test drive everything on my short list again closer to when I buy .

That’s a really smart way to keep track of them.

No boss I haven’ t. My review will probbaly not be fair for more than 1 reason.
1) Ex owner of GTO and G8-GXP and have spent fair amount of time in A ustra lia (as an expat) . So I like H olden. And I am exceedingly biased.
2) If I let go off the first point, I wont be fai r to the car either because the SS shares the garage with a different breed and I have owned GTO / GXP along side different c ars as well:
- C63 AMG (4 years)
- E550 (4 years)
- CLK 350 (8 years)
- 7 series ( current) .
there are quirks in a 2017 SS which I can- not imagine in a 2014 BMW. But then I’ll be comparing a 110k car to a 50k car.
Both can and c an’ t compare with the C63 AMG.
both can and c an’t co mpare with the E550.
The G8-GXP was raw co
mpared to the SS.
